INTRODUCTION TO THE CONTENTS

In your box contains a selection of brushes, paper’s and illumination ideas!

Brushes and Pots

I have labelled where possible the brushes – it is very important to only use specific brushes for their intended purposes. I have put the A.G.S brush in the little pouch – this brush’s sole use is for the size in the A.G.S pot and I think best to keep separate from your other brushes.

There are 2 brushes to use with the gold ink and 2 brushes to be used with the gold powder; please note brushes for powder are labelled 1and 2 and to be used in that order – unless you want gold all over you and your studio – you may?!

In the little pouch is a fine liner 0.2mm pen, this is waterproof and fade resistant, artist quality. A standard HB pencil and a small portion of a black rubber.

3 shells for you to gild when you are ready!

Paper – In order in the box

A Black Letter Alphabet for the use in the first practical by Chris Jarman

3 pages of illuminated examples throughout the centuries.

1 page of standard paper – To use first to draw on with the HB pencil

2 pieces of graph paper – different sizes

2 pieces A5 Fabriano paper, 300gsm / 140lb hot press – artist quality followed by: 2 pieces of aquarelle arches 300gsm / 140lb hot press – artist quality – these 2 are for your final pieces.

4 small pieces of tracing paper

1 piece of glassine paper to protect underneath 1 sheet of imitation gold leaf – this is extremely delicate – take great care to remove this and hold at the spine of the booklet (should be the left-hand side).

Beneath this another sheet of glassine paper and a sheet of zinc leaf transfer – this is sturdier; pick up from the left-hand side where there is more paper rather than to touch the zinc.

Another larger piece of glassine – this can be used (as with the other pieces) to keep your work protected – especially final pieces.

2 book lists for reference.
